RE: pressure rating on new trailer tires

Likely old tires wwere load range D. New tires are load range C. Note if so they will not carry near as much weight!!!!!
Better check your weight capacity begfore you drive anywhere.
Note over inflating tires just makes them MORE dangerous. IMO you should never exceed sidewall pressure ratings (on ST or P rated tires).

RE: Where do you put your hitch when you've set up?

Our Equal-i-zer draw bar stays locked in the TV receiver. We just wipe off grease. Regrease before hooking up. We've done it for years and after the first two or three times you bang into it, you remember, and never hit it again (at least we do not).

RE: Will my A/C work on 15 amp service

Make sure voltage is no lower than 110 VAC. Personally I think you will NOT be able to run A/C.

RE: Inverter / Autoformer question

My Hughes autoformer will sometimes jump that high if the load is just right. Done it since new. Never caused a problem.

RE: Brake controller voltage setting

As said above, follow excellent Prodigy directions and I'll bet it works fine. You only reference ONE STEP. You need to do all the steps.

RE: AC help

What was VOLTAGE inside RV when this happens. If not 110 VAC or more, DO NOT run your A/C unless you like to gamble a lot.

RE: tire help!

Do you have Discount Tire stores? They ordered Maxxis for me, good price also.

RE: Debit cards instead of credit cards!

As several have said, read the fine print on your contract CAREFULLY. What are you liable for if lost? Most (all?) credit cards limit loss to about $50. Most debit cards I've seen have no limit, your liable for everything including over limit charges.
Be careful out there.

RE: Different Tires

IMO look and see where the "bad" tires were made. Bet they are Chinese. If so, why not get some NON-CHINESE tires? I think it is more likely your original tires were junk. I believe junk tires will blow out no matter what load range.

RE: Plugging trailer into 20 Amp Recepticle?

Watch the voltmeter inside your RV. If you don't have one, IMO buy one. As long as VOLTAGE is at least 110 VAC with A/C running, you are ok. If voltage falls below 110 VAC for more than a second, turn A/C off.

RE: Fridge ?

We turn ours on day before leaving, and off day after we get home. If we hit a tunnel that requires it to be off, we also turn off for that tunnel.

RE: leveling question

Used our Yellow "Legos" for over 60,000 miles and ten years so far. Haven't broken one or had any issues yet!
Note Hoppy makes little bubble levels calibrated in inches, or blocks, that make it a one time try each time. One mark per block, gotta love that.

RE: I screwed up again.

What a bummer. Too late for you now, but that is why many of us use antifreeze in lines. It is cheap insurance.
I suspect city water connect will leak the same. If not, you know where leak is as there is normally very very little city vs pump seperate water lines.

RE: Tire covers....

I cover ours, according to "current wisdom" it helps tires last longer. Don't know if it is true, but in over 160,000 rv miles we've never had a blowout. We replace tires every 7 years (or when they wear out if sooner). Works for us.

RE: locking battery hold downs

Unattended for how log? If only a day I would not worry about it. In over 60,000 miles nobody has stolen our propane tanks or battery, all of which are not locked and are out in open on TT tongue. I'm sure stuff gets stolen, but IMO it is rare. Personally never met an RVer who had said they were rob'd (except maybe at gas pumps).

RE: hitch grease

I use wheel bearing grease on ball and on Equal-i-zer bar pivots. I wipe off and regrease each time I hook up trailer.

RE: How often do you check lug nut tightness?

In spring, and before each trip over 5000 miles. Rarely find any loose, and then only a tiny bit, but we have steel wheels.

RE: What regular maintenance do you do?

I do wheel bearings and check brakes about every 20,000 miles.
Check battery water, tire condition & pressure, torque lug nuts, before each long trip.
Check roof each spring. Try to wax once a year. Clean water pump filter every year or two. If water heater has anode rod, change yearly.
